Okay, so I’m not one who is big on these reality game show/competitions.
The only reality competition I ever watch is The Bachelor. And that’s only
mainly because I like to laugh at the ridiculousness of the men or women
fighting each other for the winning rose. (Juan Pablo seems pretty awesome
though – can’t wait!) But I know a lot of people who are really into Dancing with
the Stars. I think in its 16 seasons, I have watched….half of an episode?
Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE dance. I even took dance as a kid
and teen. Ballet, tap, pointe, a little hip hop. But seriously, I could care
less which celebrity is better at the waltz than the other. They are just
people. People who play pretend for their jobs and for some reason get paid
millions to do it…including dancing for fun!
Enough of my rant. Back to the point. I was scrolling
through yahoo’s top stories this morning and low and behold, what catches my eye?
“Most Popular New Dancing Star.” Okay, I had to see. I usually don’t care, but
for some reason it had me hooked. And who do you think the most popular new
dancing star is? None other than the greatest childhood science educator ever!
Bill Nye! As in Billy Nye the Science Guy! The theme song instantly drums in my
head. No wonder he is the most popular new dancer. Everyone loves Bill Nye.
Side note: While yes, I love Billy Nye, I do disagree with
some of theories. Including evolution. It’s sad that we disagree, but no one
will persuade me differently on my firm scientific belief that creationism is
correct.
But ballroom dancing, really? I just can’t see this tall,
bean pole, chemistry geek performing the foxtrot or the sexy tango. So I guess
I will be forgoing my usual “no watching pointless reality t.v. (other than the
bachelor)” this season. I will be cheering on my childhood science teacher to
count those steps, make sharp spins, and score 10’s.

No comments on the new stars - don't know who any of them are : ) We don't watch Dancing With The Stars because of the lewd costumes the ladies wear. My husband prefers not to have such on out television. We'll even turn the channel off FOX and Friends in teh morning when Gretchen (is that her name, my brain draws a blank, it sounds wrong : ) anyway, when their female anchor chooses to wear a dress that exposes her cleavage. When will Christian women make a stand for modesty according to the word?
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with the lewd costumes! I think that's why I love watching the black and white (even colored) older films. Dancers, like Ginger Rogers, danced and still knew how to cover it up. It's so sad that the women of today don't leave much for the imagination. If only they realized that it's what the good men in this world are looking for. Not to mention that it's also what God craves.
